A special event Oct. 20 carved smiles on the faces of Boys Town Nevada children and families…and their pumpkins.
They celebrated the fall season with a pumpkin carving contest and brunch to benefit the youth of Boys Town Nevada.
“I’ve seen pumpkins before, but this is the first time that I got to carve my very own,” said Kevin, a Boys Town Nevada youth.
Nearly 65 children and their families gathered at The Hotel on Mt. Charleston for the festive event, where they were greeted by hotel staff dressed in Halloween costumes. The pumpkin carving was followed by a brunch at A Cut Above, The Hotel’s restaurant.
More than 50 pumpkins were entered in the contest, and carvings of spooky ghosts and grinning cats peered out at the judges as they selected the winning designs. Four winners were announced as children and families enjoyed their brunch.
“The mountains were beautiful and the brunch was amazing,” said Erika Christensen, Boys Town Nevada Development Specialist. “It was definitely the kind of event that will always remain in the children’s memories.”
