Boys Town Nevada Inducts New Board Members and Chairman

2008 Board Chairman James Houssels with former Chairman Norm Jenkins and Bill Postma

Four Las Vegas citizens will help Boys Town Nevada’s mission to save children and heal families grow as newly inducted members of the Board of Directors.

Former U.S. Senator Richard Bryan inducted Dr. Gary Marrone, Dr. Mark Escoto, Marydean Martin and Marcelle Frey to the Nevada Board during a ceremony at the Las Vegas Country Club on Thursday, February 7th.  Each member took an oath to “provide the highest quality programs and services to Nevada’s children and families in need.”

“It is truly an honor to serve on the Boys Town Nevada Board of Directors,” said Dr. Mark Escoto, who has quietly worked for years to help less fortunate children by providing free dental services to Boys Town youth. “I grew up here, and the community has been good to me.  Giving back is just another part of saying thank you.”

The Board also named James Houssels as Chairman. He expressed his vision for Boys Town Nevada’s future to the crowd of nearly 100 guests, including Nancy Houssels, Nevada Ballet Theatre co-founder; Dana Lee, Nevada Women’s Philanthropy co-founder; and Dave Courvoisier, Channel 8 News Anchor and Board member.

“Under my leadership, I hope to raise awareness in our community about how our organization saves Nevada’s troubled children and heals families,” said Houssels. “I look forward to expanding on the accomplishments of the last few years, and demonstrating to our donors how Boys Town is committed to both quality care and being an exceptional steward of its resources."

“James brings with him an unwavering dedication to the children of Nevada and an incredible history of philanthropy in our community,” said Norm Jenkins, outgoing Board Chairman. “He is well suited to lead our Board.”

“I am both proud and honored to add these exceptional new members to Boys Town Nevada’s Board of Directors,” said Tom Waite, Boys Town Nevada President and CEO.  “Each has contributed significantly to our organization prior to joining the Board, and is committed to expanding Boys Town’s continuum of care to provide more services to families and children in need.  All bring a wealth of experience, passion and knowledge to the Nevada Board, combined with a desire to help abused and neglected children throughout our community.  With the guidance and leadership of Mr. Houssels, I look forward to another amazing year.”
