Boys Town Relates to Shared Message of Hope at "Bella" Premier

A personal invitation by the producer of a new highly acclaimed movie allowed Boys Town Nevada to share in the message of hope brought by, “Bella.”

Producer Shawn Wolfington asked selected staff at Boys Town Nevada to attend an exclusive screening of his new movie at Brenden Theaters within the Palms Resort in Las Vegas.  “Bella,” is the story of a struggling pregnant young waitress and a cook that helps her to make the most difficult decision of her life.  The movie bears a prominent theme of help, healing and hope for the future – a message which has been at the heart of Boys Town's mission for 90 years.  Among the stars in attendance were Wolfington, actor Eduardo Verastegui, and director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde.

“’Bella” has a strong adoption theme and the producer, Shawn Wolfington, thought that the concept of loving a child or children who are not biologically yours would strike a chord in the hearts of our staff and open the discussion to what types of programs Boys Town has to offer,” said Erika Christensen, and Boys Town Nevada Development Specialist.

“Bella” illustrated how, through love and compassion, people’s lives can change for the better.  Much like the main characters, Josè (Eduardo Verastegui) and Nina, many of the youth who come to Boys Town have experienced pasts full of torment and devastation, and moved past their pain to have a better life.

“This is a beautiful story of triumph and love that knows no biological limitations,” said Christensen.

After the movie, Wolfington introduced Tom Waite, Boys Town Nevada Executive Director, to the VIP crowd, and briefly explained the types of programs Boys Town offers children in the community.

“It is because of the love and compassion that Boys Town’s staff provides to neglected and abandoned kids that children like Bella have a second chance at a happy and safe childhood and successful future”, said Wolfington.

“I feel so fortunate that we had the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing film,” said Waite.

Among the Boys Town representatives in attendance for the VIP screening were Waite, Elizabeth Muto, Christensen, Board members Rudy Prieto and Winnie Schulman, and members of the Latin Chamber of Commerce
